Harold A. Shriner of West Seneca Road, Trumansburg, age 66, passed away February 24, 2008. Born March 25, 1941 in Searsburg, NY, Harold was the son of the late Harold Eugene and Mary Alice (Shaw) Shriner. He attended a one room school in Perry City, and graduated from Trumansburg High School in 1958. Harold enlisted in the US Navy in 1959 and served over a year at the Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, Illinois. He then served two and a half years aboard the USS Springfield (CLG-7) the flagship of the US Sixth Fleet stationed in the Mediterranean. Harold was honorably discharged at the rank of YN2 in June 1963.
Harold graduated from Rochester Business Institute in 1965 and from Drake College of Florida in 1966, earning a Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) degree. Harold retired from Cornell University in December 2002 after thirty-six years of service.
Harold was a member of the Perry City Friends Church, and served as its clerk for several years. He was a member of Trumansburg Senior Citizens and enjoyed frequent card games with friends.
Survivors include three aunts and one uncle, Wilma Russell of Beaver Dams, NY; Eloise Light, of Brooktondale, NY; Ethel Shaw of CT; Arthur and Polly Shriner of Spring Water, NY; and several cousins.
In keeping with Harold's wishes there will be no services or calling hours. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg.
