Helen H. Savey, of 28 Whig St., Trumansburg, passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the age of 86.

Born on November 27, 1921 in Newark, NJ, Helen was a daughter of the late George O. and Henrietta (Rousseau) Hinds. She attended Hunter College in New York, NY and served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. On June 5, 1948, Helen married William H. Savey, Sr. She was employed for thirteen years at The School of Applied & Engineering Physics at Cornell University. After her retirement, Helen enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing bridge, and participating in community service projects.

In addition to her husband, Bill, of Trumansburg, Helen is survived by a son, David B. (Laura F.) Savey; daughter-in-law, Terry L. Savey; grandchildren, Jennifer and Adrianne Savey, Rachel (Christopher) Atchison, Timothy, Rebecca, Patricia, Michael, William, Jessica and Jonathan Savey; great-grandchildren, Ashleigh LeBard, Zachary Nichols and Logan Atchison; brothers, George Hinds and Stanley Hinds; many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a son, William H. Savey, Jr. and a brother, Robert Hinds.

Helen's family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, May 1, from 6-8pm at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 2, at 2:00 pm at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church, corner of
Main St., and South St. with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Losey officiating.
