Ida M. White

Ida Mae Stilwell White, of Ithaca, passed away at Hospicare surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the age of 86.

Born in Waverly, NY on July 18, 1925, Ida was the daughter of the late Howard and Lena Pearl (Graham) Ames. She could truly be considered a local girl, having spent all of her growing up years and a majority of her adult life in this area. Ida worked many years as a short order cook at Tompkins County Hospital and later at Cornell University until retiring in 1987. She then moved to Florida with her husband, Clifford S. White, to enjoy some of their retirement years before moving back to the Trumansburg area to once again share the lives of their families.

In addition to her parents, Ida was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Homer Stilwell, Jr., and Clifford S. White; and two of her sisters, Belle VanFleet and Betty Kirkpatrick. She is survived by her children, Larry (Linda) Stilwell of Ithaca, Gary Stilwell of Trumansburg, Richard (Becky) Stilwell of Ithaca, Cheryl (Mark) Godshall of Riverside, CA, and Dawn Stilwell of Freeville; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen Murray of Ithaca; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Whitehead of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service officiated by Hospicare Chaplain Edie Reagan will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. Interment in Tunkhannock, PA will be at the convenience of the family.
