Idaline H. Van Orden of 103 Bundy Rd., Ithaca passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the age of 92.
Born Idaline Helena Lee in Colon, Panama on October 5, 1915, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Violet Chang Lee. Idaline resided in Odessa for many years while working as a secretary for the Ellison & Ellison Law Firm in Watkins Glen and later for RSVP in Montour Falls. Idaline and her husand, Chester E. had been enjoying their retirement in Florida for seven years before Chester's passing on April 26, 1985. She returned to New York, residing in Montour Falls from 1987 to 2000, Trumansburg from 2000 to 2004, and 103 Bundy Road since 2004.
With a sincere and caring nature, Idaline established friendships easily. She enjoyed many years of bowling following her retirement as well as continuing her life-long loves of sewing, craft-making and reading. The occasions that warmed Idaline's heart most were those involving family.
Idaline is survived by one daughter, Linda Lee (Richard) Coyle of Trumansburg; two sons, Richard Ellsworth (Lori Ann) Van Orden of Ballston Lake and Frederick Charles (Suzanne) Van Orden of Canandaigua; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A family memorial service will be held in the Fall of 2008 where she will be interred with her late husband in Ocala, Florida.
The family asks those who wish to make a contribution in Idaline's memory to kindly consider the Trumansburg United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 628, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
