Inez C. Pugh

d. April 20, 2012

Inez Carmen Pugh, of Trumansburg, NY passed away at Cayuga Ridge Nursing Facility on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the age of 91.

Born in New Rochelle, New York on April 7, 1921, Inez was the daughter of the late Professor Salvatore and Marguerite (Ingicco) Grenci. While growing up, she attended Mount Vernon Schools and studied violin under the direction of her father.

Over the years, she took pleasure in gardening and reading and enjoyed the interactions she had with children while working as a teacher’s aid in the Romulus School District. Inez volunteered regularly at the Gemm Shop and was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Her deep faith was evident through a strong and dedicated prayer life.

Everyone who met Inez loved her. With a gracious demeanor and unique ability to listen with sincerity, she immediately put those in her presence at ease. Her most cherished memories were those spent with family and friends. She looked forward to their annual vacation in Wells, Maine and fondly remembered the simple family gatherings in her home. The unconditional love Inez had for her family will never be forgotten.

In addition to her parents, Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Pugh, Sr. in 2006; daughter in law, Gayla Stroble; sister, Rita Huff and her husband Jack Huff; and brother, Francesco Grenci. She is survived by two children, Thomas Pugh, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL and Geraldine (Robert) Todi of Trumansburg; five grandchildren, Marguerite Lester (Scott Peloquin), Jerrod (Laura) Prevost, Jeannette (Walter) Mock, John (Michelle) Pugh, and Michael Todi; three great-grandchildren, Christian Patrick Lester, Seth Owen Prevost, and Walter Mock IV; two brothers, Tito (Hilah) Grenci and Gino (Marian) Grenci; a sister-in-law, Ann Grenci; beloved Laurie Miller and family; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. John Tokaz, OFM Cap. at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 26th at St. James Church, 17 Whig St., Trumansburg. Prayers of committal will immediately follow in St. James Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception in the St. James Parish Hall following the prayers of committal.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff at Cayuga Ridge (formerly Lakeside) for the excellent care given to both Inez and her husband, Thomas.
