Irene J. Bakker of Lodi and Trumansburg passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Monday, October 24, 2016 at the age of 85.

Born in Paterson, New Jersey on December 12, 1930, Irene was the daughter of the late John and Katie (Bruggeman) Faber. While living in New Jersey, Irene worked at a local supermarket, was a nurse’s aide for 17 years, and worked as a receptionist before retiring. She was an active member of Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat, and after moving to Lodi in 1995, Irene became an active member of the Interlaken Reformed Church. She enjoyed knitting and cross-stitching.

Irene is survived by a son, Daniel G. (Georgeanne) Bakker of Interlaken; daughter, Kathi A. (Donald) Bakker of Virginia; two grandchildren, Rebecca Firman and Sarah Matthews; three great-grandchildren, Caleb and Ethan Firman, and Courtney Matthews; nephew, Nick VanderWeide; and nieces, Carolyn Bloom and Beverly Armstrong. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Bakker in 2012.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Interlaken Reformed Church, 8315 Main Street, Interlaken. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 11:00am at the church. Prayers of committal will be held at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
