Irene R. (Roberts) Vannederynen

Irene R. VanNederynen of Mecklenburg passed away at home with family by her side on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the age of 88.

Irene was born on July 20, 1932 in Ithaca, a daughter of the late Roger and Julia (Lecoq) Roberts. She worked for NY Holstein as the office manager for many years prior to her retirement and loved collecting cow memorabilia. She served her community as part of the 4-H program and was a 50-year member of the Mecklenburg Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  Irene enjoyed country music concerts, bowling, senior bus trips, bingo and attending the State Fair. Always active in her families’ lives, Irene loved hosting picnics and chicken barbeques at her home.

Irene is survived by her husband Stanley VanNederynen; four children, John VanNederynen, Jane (Steve) Ike, Larry (Linda) VanNederynen, Barbara (Jeffrey) Adams; nine grandchildren, Steve (Jessica) Coyle, Michael (Regina) Coyle, Jeffrey (Jessica D.) Coyle, Heather Coyle, Victoria (Mark Warren) VanNederynen, Tom (Krystal) VanNederynen, Matthew (Kayla) Kelly, Jason (Jessica) Kelly, and Cory (Marie S.) VanNederynen; 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Gordon (Sandy) Roberts and Carol Rundle; brother in law and sister in law, Gordon (Eleanor) VanNederynen; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by brothers, Edward and Ralph Roberts.

The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00pm at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 3:00pm at the funeral home. A Celebration of Irene’s Life at the Mecklenburg Fire Department will be announced in Spring.
