Irwin "Bernie" Oliver, 73, of Seneca Falls passed away at home on June 11, 2008.
Born May 17, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, Bernie was the son of the late Israel and Anna (Zwirn) Oliver. After earning his BS degree in Pharmacy from the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy Bernie worked in retail stores and hospitals simultaneously before accepting a position in the Department of Mental Health. Eventually he returned to retail pharmacy, retiring from the CVS store in Binghamton. He was Shop Stewart in District #1199 in New York City and PEF for 3 years while working at Willard Psychiatric Center. Bernie moved to the Finger Lakes area in 1976, living in Lodi and Seneca Falls.
In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his wife, Inge Ida Oliver in 1991. He is survived by two sons, David H. Oliver of Lodi, and George M. (Nina ) Oliver of Seneca Falls; two daughters, Mandy (George) Cooley of Waterloo, and Sue-Ellen Oliver of Rochester; four grandchildren, Rosa, George Jr., Holly, and Joseph and one niece and two nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday, June 14 from 10-11am at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. A Graveside Service, officiated by Cantor Richard Rosenfield, will be held on Monday, June 16 at 11:30 am at Grove Cemetery, Trumansburg.
