Isobel B. Duddleston of Trumansburg passed away at Oak Hill Manor on Monday, January 25, 2016 at the age of 92.
Isobel and her husband, John H. Duddleston, made their home in Trumansburg all their lives. She was active in several organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary, Ulysses Historical Society, Daughter’s of the American Revolution, Gemm Shop volunteer, Trumansburg Senior Citizens, and member of the Church of Epiphany.
In her youth, Isobel was an avid bowler and softball player. She enjoyed traveling on cruises, dancing, was a devoted New York Yankees fan, had her pilot’s license, and loved cats, dogs, and birds. Most of all, Isobel loved caring for her family and husband.
Isobel is survived by four children, Douglas (Carolyn) Duddleston of Ithaca, James (Mi-Young) Duddleston of Philadelphia, PA, Sandra Duddleston of Trumansburg, and Susan (Bob) Sullivan of Trumansburg; 10 grandchildren, Cynthia Dew, Daniel and Mark Duddleston, Erin Lawrence, Gregory and Benjamin Duddleston, Lisa Yanez, Robert Sullivan, and Andrew and Kevin Duddleston; 11great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; three sisters in law, Joy Caveney, Jean Baines, and Julia Comin; and a brother in law, Dr. Robert Zimmer. In addition to her parents, Isobel was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John H. Duddleston; brother, L. Richard Caveney; and a sister, Elsie O’Dea.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Hill Manor for the excellent care provided to their mom.
The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 23 at the Church of the Epiphany, 12 Elm Street, Trumansburg. A Celebration of both Isobel and John Duddleston’s Lives will follow from 1:00 to 4:00pm at the Trumansburg American Legion Post 770.
