Mary J. Worden of Treasure Island, Florida, (formerly of Trumansburg), passed away in Florida on Friday, June 27, 2003 at the age of 80.
Born in Trumansburg on June 19, 1923, Mary was the daughter of Floyd and Annette Queer Weeks.
Mary was a long time resident of Trumansburg and belonged to the Podunk Ladies Group as well as the Trumansburg Juanita Rebekah Lodge. Mary's priority in life was to care for and nurture her children. The children had comfort in knowing that Mary would be present for important events in their lives and was willing to provide support whenever it was needed. This same kindness was also shown to her cats as she watched over and protected them. Her loving soul will forever warm the hearts of all who knew and loved Mary.
In 1997 Mary moved to Treasure Island, FL to be near her daughter Debbie Szalkowski. She is also survived by a daughter Ellen Thompson of Germany; one son, Lawrence F. Worden of Trumansburg; one brother, Merle Weeks of Allentown, PA; four grandchildren, Alexander Thompson, Karen Everts and Veronica and Steven Worden and four great-grandchildren, Leslie, Marshall, Eric and Jeffrey.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Leslie Worden in 1984 and her son Ronnie in 1964.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses on Friday, July 11, 2003 at 10:00 am with the Rev. Jeffrey S. Kellam officiating.
