J. Kelley, Ruth

Ruth Jane (Wellin) Kelley died on October 6, 2004 at the Schuyler Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls. She was 85.

Ruth was born April 7, 1919, the daughter of Ernest and Marcia Brown Wellin. She was a lifelong resident of Trumansburg and a member of the Trumansburg United Methodist Church. Ruth was married to Charles W. Kelley on April 10, 1937 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage. She was a homemaker and former food service worker for the Trumansburg Central Schools. She enjoyed camping and boating with her husband, playing cards with "the girls", and working in her flower beds. She was also an avid crafter and quiltmaker.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her four brothers, Donald, Jay, Ernest and Horace. Ruth is survived by her three children, Kaye (Delano) Borden of Ovid, Ruth (Wayne) Doane and Douglas C. Kelley of Trumansburg; brother-in-law Lewis Kelley; five grandchildren Laurie (Ken) Murray, Aaron (Pat) Borden, S. Michael Morris, Karen (José) Martín Sánchez and Sarah (Wingfield) Glassey; twelve great-grandchildren Lindsay (Murray) Mitchell, Jordan, Elise and Olivia Murray, Noah, Will and Charlie Borden, Renee Morris, Adriana and Santiago Martín Sánchez, Evan and Eoin Glassey and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on October 16, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg with the Rev. Barbara DeAngelis officiating. The family has entrusted arrangements to the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. As per Ruth's wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to the Trumansburg Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 418, Trumansburg, NY 14886, the Trumansburg Area Food Pantry, or the Trumansburg United Methodist Church.
