Jack R. Rumsey

Jack R. Rumsey, age 80, of Enfield passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021.

He was born on January 16, 1941 in Ithaca, a son of the late Jared and Margaret (Holley) Rumsey.

Jack worked many years at the Tompkins County Highway department before retiring. Jack was a conversationalist and storyteller, always able to draw a crowd with his larger-than-life stories. He enjoyed  fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes, a good card game and going to auctions to list a few. However, he was at his happiest, when he was visiting or spending time with friends and family. Jack truly enjoyed being together at all the family gatherings.

Jack is survived by his children, Tina M Rumsey, Jack (Haleigh) Rumsey, Jill (Joseph) Tilton, Jamie Rumsey Witkowski, Randal (Dwight) Rumsey, and Jacob Jackson Rumsey; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Rumsey; grandchildren (Krystal, Joshua, Britney, Sabrina and Chelsey) along with his great grandchildren; Siblings: Susan (Larry) Carlisle, Judy Neiss, Denis (DeeAnne) Rumsey, Loreta (Linda) Rumsey-Ebert, Marlene Crockford, Bruce (Alma) Rumsey; sister-in-law, Elise Rumsey; and many nieces, nephews, and large extended family.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by daughter, Deborah Rumsey, son, Elery Rumsey, brother, Maynard and Russell Rumsey, sister, Phylis Brooks, brother-in law Dick Brooks and Bob Crockford.

Family will be present to receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
