James Brinton Furman, 67, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at his home in Trumansburg, NY. He was born on January 11, 1940, son of the late Alice McDowell Furman.

Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anne Hoover Furman, Trumansburg; son, Walter, Hayward, CA; daughter, Anne Christine and her husband Thomas Emrich, Bellingham, WA; son, Simeon, Durham, NC; brother, Jonathan Furman, West Rutland, VT; and father, Hon. David D. Furman, Bernardsville, NJ.

Jim graduated from Brewster Academy, Wolfeboro, NH, class of 1958, and Colorado College, Colorado Springs, CO, class of 1963. Jim taught high school English in Colorado and sold college text books in Upstate NY before he discovered life as an artist working in architectural stained glass. Jim's work can be found in private and public spaces throughout the U.S., and in numerous print and online publications. He also taught stained glass art to many. Jim was an avid traveler, a civil war enthusiast, and an expert marksman. Jim loved art, music, nature, a life of the mind, and his family.

A gathering of friends and neighbors are invited from 4 -6 p.m Saturday, December 8, at Jim's studio on Main Street, Trumansburg.
