James R. “Jim” Millspaugh of Trumansburg passed away at home surrounded by family on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the age of 66.
Jim was born in Ithaca on March 10, 1948, a son of the late Arthur and Gertrude Millspaugh. A lifelong resident of Trumansburg, he graduated from Trumansburg High School in 1966. Jim worked for several years at NCR in Ithaca, co-owned and operated Cadmatics Inc., and retired from Cornell University as a computer systems specialist.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman spending hours fishing and hunting. He was a lifelong supporter of the Trumansburg Golf Course serving on the board of directors and served as secretary for the Men’s Monday Night League. In 2012, Jim was elected to the Trumansburg High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Jim’s kind hearted spirit and positive attitude defined his character. He was a genuine and faithful friend to everyone. Throughout his long battle with cancer, Jim remained positive, never complaining, and enjoyed life to the fullest with family and friends.
Jim is survived by two sons, Joshua (Rami Woods) and Jason (Roxanne) Millspaugh; four grandchildren, Owen, Liam, Nathaniel, and Addison Millspaugh; three brothers, Dale, Roger (Chona), and Fred (Lisa) Millspaugh; one sister, Brenda (Richard) Gaige; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gertrude Millspaugh.
The family will be present to receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00pm on Saturday, May 24, at the Trumansburg Golf Course, 23 Halsey Street, Trumansburg.
