James A. “Jim” Nohelty of Interlaken passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the age of 68.
Jim was born on December 27, 1948, a son of the late Walter and Laverne “Leigh” (Schinkel) Nohelty. He honorably served in the United States Army for several years before attending college, eventually earning his Master’s in Public Administration.
Above all, Jim loved his family, cherished his friends, and adored his numerous cats and dogs.
Jim is survived by his wife of 20 years, Susan Nohelty; children, Russell (Karen) Nohelty, Elizabeth (Marc) Romano, Shari (Chris) Noe, Andrea (Bill) Howey, and Michael Friedkin; nine grandchildren, Nikolas, Nina, Benjamin, Jacob, Billy, Alexa, Addison, Tyler, and Max; brother, Jerry O’Neil; sister in law, Kendall O’Neil; special cousin, Pat Taylor; and several beloved pets. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Steve O’Neil; and a sister, Kathleen O’Neil.
The family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will immediately follow at 2:00pm, at the funeral home.
