James E. Voorheis of Trumansburg passed away at home on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the age of 77.
Jim was born in Montour Falls on June 5, 1943, a son of the late Edwin and Betty Voorheis. His construction work was flawless and he worked for a number of years at Bell Construction in Rochester. Jim was a lifelong gun collector and enjoyed building and working on guns.
Jim is survived by two sons, Stacy Voorheis and Jamie Crowley; three daughters, Sheila Voorheis, Susie (Darryl) Griffen, and Kristina (John) Crowley-John; grandchildren, Zachariah, Nasyah, and Jebidiah Proctor, Danielle and Dallas Griffen, Derek Voorheis, Rachel and Ivan “Nikki” Shorts, Mercedes and Dalton Crowley, Samantha Phillips, and Daniel, Grace, and Isabella John; great grandchildren, Elivia Mundell, Ronan Voorheis, (Please add any others); and siblings Roland Voorheis, Ted Herforth, Linda Abbott, and Gayle Mazourek. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his siblings, Bucky, Jean, and Carol.
The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00am to Noon on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at Noon at the funeral home. Prayers of Committal will follow at Hector Union Cemetery in Burdett. In keeping with COVID-19 regulations, everyone in attendance will be required to wear a mask.
