Janet A. Smith

Janet Ann Smith, 67, passed away after a brief illness December 8, 2015 at Lutheran Memorial Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.

Born in Los Angeles, she grew up in North Ridgeville, Ohio. In 1970, she graduated from Ohio University, where she majored in Philosophy. She moved to Brooklyn in the early 1970’s. She worked briefly at Fort Hamilton, then moved to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, where she worked for more than forty years until her retirement in 2014. Janet was dedicated to her work and is missed by her former co-workers.

She enjoyed traveling, horse-back riding, and a number of crafts. She was a talented artist, sharing some pieces with friends and family. She was devoted to her cats. Janet is survived by two brothers, Robert Smith and Frank Smith, her sister-in-law Morgan and beloved niece Eliora.
