Janice K.  Poyer

Janice K. Poyer of Trumansburg passed away at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the age of 88.

Born in Ithaca on October 15, 1923, Janice was the daughter of the late Richard and Mae (Martin) Kimple. Janice worked as a telephone operator for the Trumansburg Telephone Company and prior to retiring she worked in the cafeteria at the Trumansburg Schools.

Her most cherished memories were those spent with family.

Janice’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility for the loving care they provided to Janice over the past 3 years.

Janice is survived by two children, Pamela (Ron) Applegarth of Newfield and Richard (Linda) Caward of GA; step children, Linda (Ed) Fetherbay of Danby, Kenneth (Cathie) Poyer of Ithaca, and David (Peg) Poyer of Mecklenburg; step son in law, Jim Housworth of Ithaca; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Caward Sr; second husband, Kenneth Poyer; a step daughter, Sharon Housworth; and a brother, Richard Kimple.

The family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00pm on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at the funeral home.
