Janice J. Preston of Trumansburg, matriarch and last survivor of her generation, passed away at Oak Hill Manor on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the age of 88.

Janice was born on September 4, 1926 in Sidney, a daughter of the late Archie and Neva (Clark) Jamison. She grew up in Johnson City and moved to Trumansburg where she resided until 2012. For over 30 years, Janice was administrative secretary for the Dean of Student’s Office at Cornell University. An animal lover at heart, she helped care for horses and had many cats, dogs, and other pets over the years. Janice enjoyed bowling, reading a good book, and completing crossword puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

The Preston family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Oak Hill Manor nursing staff for their excellent care during her last few weeks. Also a special thank you to Dr. Jander and the staff of Clare Bridge who made Janice a part of their family for the past two years.

Janice is survived by three children, Robert Preston, William (Ella) Preston, and Patricia (Carl Hubbell) Preston; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Perrion Preston in 1968; grandson, Nicholas Preston; great granddaughter, Shianne Henkel; two sisters, Doris Bullock and Joyce Holowinski; and a sister in law, May Moon.

The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow in Riverside Cemetery in Apalachin.
