Jean A. Yaw of Trumansburg left her family and friends to join her soul mate Cliff on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the age of 67. She passed peacefully with her family at her side at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa.
Jean was born on September 9, 1948, a daughter of the late Stephen and Edythe (Curtis) Uhrovcik. She graduated from Lansing Central School in 1966 and attended the Olean Business Institute following her graduation. Jean worked as a case worker at Tompkins County Department of Social Services for many years.
Jean loved to go camping and fishing with her family at their camp in Upstate NY. She also enjoyed cooking large family meals, and she spent time crocheting until her health prevented her from doing the things she loved. Anyone who knew Jean also knew she had her line-up of favorite T.V.shows that she enjoyed watching and heaven help you if you called to talk to her when they were on.
Jean is survived by three children, Chrystal (Mike) Yaw, Raymond Yaw, and Andrew Yaw; two grandchildren, Zachary and Belle; three siblings, Rosemary (Allen) Cobane, Stephanie (Randal) Swearingen, and Michael (Cindy) Uhrovcik; many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Yaw in 2013; and a brother, Joseph Uhrovcik in 1975. Jean will be greatly missed by her family and longtime friends.
The family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the funeral home.
