Jerry R. Lyons, age 92, of Geneva, formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away at Geneva General Hospital on April 24, 2015, to join his wife to celebrate their 69th wedding anniversary together.

Jerry was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on December 20, 1922, a son of the late Sanger and Doris (Griffieth) Lyons. At 21 he joined the United States Army to defend his country during World War II. He served as a surgical technician and awarded a Good Conduct Medal, a Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. In 1946 Jerry was honorably discharged and returned home to Michigan to marry his longtime sweetheart Margaret. He had a long career in small business machine repair and retired from TRW in Grand Rapids.

Jerry had a deep faith in God and was an active church member his entire life. He had a kind heart and always maintained a witty sense of humor. Above all Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a dedicated family man who up until the day of his death, called all three of his children every evening to check in with each of them.

Jerry is survived by three children, Katherine Lyons, Elisabeth VanHeusen, and Russell (Cindy) Lyons; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Lyons.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 1, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 4443 East Seneca Road, Trumansburg. Burial will be at a later date in Grand Rapids.
