Joan B. Grove

Joan B. Grove of 62 Cayuga St., Trumansburg, passed away at the Lakeside Nursing Home on Monday, March 3, 2008, at the age of 79.

Born in Trumansburg on March 26, 1928, Joan was the daughter of Alfred and Eloise Glover Boyd. She graduated from the Trumansburg High School and served as the school's tax collector for 25 years.

Joan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses, where she sang in the choir, and the Trumansburg Star Chapter #479 Order of the Eastern Star. She also developed many friendships through her involvement in the cub scouts as a den mother, and by serving as a volunteer at the Ulysses Historical Society on a regular basis. Joan bowled with friends, spent quiet time perusing the Ulysses Philomathic Library shelves for a book to cuddle up with at home, and was always excited at the opportunity to hone her excellent sewing and knitting skills by making clothes for herself or her family. Joan deeply cherished time spent with family, allowing her natural nurturing and caring traits to flourish.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton "Bunk" Grove on May 9, 1997.

She is survived by two sons, Timothy (Ginny) Grove and Clay (Mary Jeanne) Grove of Trumansburg; one daughter, Corinne Rehor of Colorado; one brother, David (Jacque) Boyd of Trumansburg; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday, March 8, 2008 from 10-11am at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg.

Services will be held, at the funeral home, on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Glenn Kennedy officiating. Prayers of Committal will be at Grove Cemetery, Trumansburg.
