Joanna F. Weatherby of Interlaken passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the age of 89.

Joanna was born at home in Searsburg on April 21, 1927, a daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Adams) Fletcher. She attended Trumansburg Schools, graduating in 1945. A caregiver at heart, Joanna raised five children, was a caregiver to many people in the community, and enjoyed volunteering. She enjoyed cooking, tending to her beloved rose bed, gardening, and traveling with her husband in later years.

Joanna is survived by her husband of 67 years, Richard Weatherby; two sons, Edwin Weatherby, and Stephen (Susan) Weatherby; three daughters, Sharon (Brian) Clair, Terri Brown, and Brenda (Don) Stocum; eight grandchildren, Kevin & Andy (Jill) Weatherby, Michael & Cameron Clair, Douglas Weatherby, Ryan & Kyle Brown, and Sarah (Jesse) Horton; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joanna was preceded in death by her 12 brothers and sisters; and a son in law, Robert Brown.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all of Joanna’s caregivers for their kindness and compassion over the past few years.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A reception for family and friends will begin at 3:00pm at the American Legion in Trumansburg.
