John M.  Ferner

John M. Ferner of Trumansburg passed away unexpectedly at Cayuga Medical Center on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the age of 61.

John was born in San Diego, California on May 21, 1953, a son of the late John and Sophie (Fudge) Ferner. He graduated from Trumansburg High School. From 1976 to 2011, he resided in Florida with his wife and children. John enjoyed listening to records, playing online poker, and reading and collecting comic books. He was an avid golfer and could be found rooting on the NY Yankees and NY Giants. John had a vast knowledge of history and enjoyed sharing historical facts with family and friends.

John is survived by two children, Elisabeth Rose (William) McCroskery and John Paul Ferner; two grandchildren, William and Delaney McCroskery; two brothers, James Arthur (Theresa) and Joseph Ferner; sister in law, Meg Nolan; aunt, Karen (William) Dean; special friend Toni Willard; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Ferner; and a sister, Jennifer Ferner.

The family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 2:00pm.
