John J. “Jack” Kenney of Trumansburg passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the age of 63.
Jack was born in Cuba on April 5, 1959, a son of the late William and Teresa (nee Galica) Kenney. He graduated from Charles O. Dickerson Class of 1977 and went on to attend and graduate from SUNY Morrisville. He then attended Purdue and transferred to Penn State where he pursued a bachelor’s degrees in Animal Husbandry and was a member of Lamda Chi Alpha. That being the same fraternity that his father joined during his time at Penn State. Jack worked with his father for many years as a production manager at the family business, Agri-Culver Seed in Mecklenburg.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and supporter of the NRA. He could often be found taking long drive around the neighborhood, waving to nearly everyone he encountered. Some of Jack’s most cherished times were those spent at Bear Camp in Inlet with all of his Bear Camp crew. In the 20 years on camp trips there may have never been any hunting but there sure were enough memories made to last a lifetime.
Jack is survived by two daughters, Krista (Jonathan) Febish and Brittany (Michael) Tschanz; six siblings, Kathy (Dan) Wiechec, Billy (Amy) Kenney, Martha (Ron) Mamrosh, Laurie Kenney, Jim (Jean) Kenney, and Michael (Alicia Grey) Kenney; many nieces and nephews; and the beloved Bear Camp boys.
A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held from 3:00 to 7:00pm on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at the American Legion Post 770 in Trumansburg.
In lieu of flowers the family asks those that would like to make a contribution in Jack’s memory to kindly consider St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
