John H. O'Leary, age 66, of 28 Strowbridge Street, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 7, 2008.
John was born in Malone, NY on April 6, 1942, a son of the late Frances and Kathleen (Murphy) O'Leary. He graduated from the Franklin Academy in Malone, and later obtained his degree in accounting from Pace University in NYC. He was a former employee of Precision Filters in Ithaca, and had been the owner of Sign-A-Rama in Ithaca, opening the business in June of 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of Trumansburg, his children, Kelly (David) Blake of Newfield, Karen (Brian) Barnes of Rochester, and John (Stephanie) O'Leary of Trumansburg; his grandchildren, Kimberly and Zachary Makinster, Marshall Blake, Jacob and Joshua Barnes, and Zachary Horn; and a great grand daughter, Jahnaya Makinster; his siblings, Dolores (Bernie) Martin of Oklahoma City, OK, Joseph Duffy of Winter Haven, FL, Frances (Charles) Angelino of Phoenix, MD, Kathleen (Phillip) Lahue of Canandaigua, and Daniel (Anna) O'Leary of Rochester, and a host of nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his brothers, Timothy and James O'Leary.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. On Thursday, June 12, a Memorial Scripture Service will be held at 2:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, kindly remember John in the form of a memorial to the Trumansburg Fire Dept, PO Box 418, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
