John H. Vandemark

John H. VanDeMark, age 52, of 4365 West Seneca Road, Lot #10, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Hospicare Residence on East King Road in Ithaca.

John was born on January 12, 1956 in Ithaca, the only son of the late Benjamin and Mary (Lyon) VanDeMark. He lived in Slaterville until he was 12, and spent the remaining 40 years in Trumansburg. He was a graduate of Trumansburg Central School, and had a passion for riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. John had been employed in various positions in food service at Cornell University for the past 7 years, as a member of the UAW Local #2300.

He is survived by his nephew, Jay R. VanDeMark of Trumansburg, his sisters, Gert Newhart of Kentucky and Sandy VanDeMark of Ithaca. John was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Carpenter.

At John's request, his friends are asked to gather at Taughannock Falls State Park for a picnic and time of remembrance on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation in John's memory may be directed to the Trumansburg Fire Dept, PO Box 418, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
