John F. Weber of Interlaken passed away at home surrounded by family on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the age of 69.
John was born in Utica on November 29, 1945, a son of the late Albert and June (Rehem) Weber. At 17, he joined the United States Navy and served as a Seabee until being honorably discharged. John held several jobs over the years including working for the Seneca Army Depot, transporting goods for Agway, and working for Challenge Industries.
John loved watching the Buffalo Bills, stock car racing always rooting for Mark Martin, and reading Stephen King novels. He enjoyed building model trains and had several completed sets. Above all, John loved his family.
John is survived by his wife of 13 years, Barbara Weber; two sons, David and Stephen Weber; seven step children, Laura Droleski, Jeanette Westerlin, Christine (James) Haggerty, James Tavares Jr., Amy Jo (Maxine Noble) Chilson, Lisa (David) Snyder, and David Chilson Jr.; daughter in law, Robin Simmons; 19 granchildren; 20 great grandchildren; first wife, Lois Weber; and dear friend Grace Slaughter. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; daughter, Michelle Weber; and three grandsons, Michael Weber, Jimmy Haggerty Jr., and Michael Seaver.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg.
