John N. Wilson

Trumansburg

John N. Wilson, age 85, longtime resident of Houghton Road, died at Cayuga Medical Center on Thursday, July 13, 2023, following a prolonged illness of Parkinson’s disease.

Born January 9, 1938 in Ithaca, the only son of the late F. Wilbur and Edla (nee Gregg) Wilson.  He was a graduate of Trumansburg High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Cortland State.  He had a long career with the city of Ithaca, retiring as the recreation coordinator for the Youth Bureau.  He was an avid outdoorsman, archer, fisherman, hunter, and was a past president of the Connecticut Hill Field Archers. He was married to Carol Beaver on October 15, 1960, and together they raised their family of three boys.  John had been a member of the Jacksonville Community UMC for many years.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Carol; his sons, Doug (Thea Beers) of San Jose, CA, Dave (Jo-Lynn Buchannan) of Erin, NY, and Rob (Jennifer) Wilson of Round Rock, TX; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023 at the Jacksonville Community United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Pam Carey.  In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Trumansburg Volunteer Fire Co. EMS  or the Jacksonville Community UMC.

The family would like to thank the excellent care the staff provided at the Cayuga Medical Center, especially Liz and Val.
