Josephine  Rumsey

Josephine M. Rumsey of Enfield passed away at Hospicare on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the age of 81.

Josie was born in Newfield on May 6, 1935, a daughter of the late Guy and Beatrice (Purdy) Armstrong. In addition to her parents, Josie was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Rumsey in 1997; and beloved son, Tommy Rumsey in 1992. Josie is survived by four children, Patty McConkey, Cindy Gibbs, Michael Rumsey, and Karen (Kevin) Jordan; eight grandchildren, Jamie Newton, Amy Newton, Joseph McConkey, Lance McConkey, Erin Jordan, Matthew McConkey, Tyler Jordan, and Mark Jordan Jr.; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Francis Thomas; several half brothers and sisters; and many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.

Following the death of her husband in 1997, Josie worked for several years at Wendy’s. She enjoyed spending time tending to her flower gardens and perfected the art of growing giant sunflowers. An animal lover, Josie had many beloved pets over the years. Family was everything to Josie and she loved sewing and cooking for them, always making her homemade pizza on Friday nights.

A Graveside Service will be announced in the Spring.
