Josephine  Wright

d. April 5, 2017

Josephine M. Wright, lifelong resident of Trumansburg, passed away with her family by her side at Cayuga Ridge on April 5, 2017.

Josephine was born in Ithaca on November 29, 1943, a daughter of the late John and Anne (Frost) Kraft. In the early 1970’s she owned and operated the Redwood Restaurant in Trumansburg with her then husband, Jim Wright, until closing the restaurant in 1983. Josephine provided day care in her home to countless families in the Trumansburg area for over 30 years. Always putting other before herself, she selflessly cared for not only her own boys, but all the kids she provided care for. Josephine was extremely proud of all four of her boys. Her strong willed, compassionate, and hardworking spirit will be missed by all her family and friends.

Josephine is survived by her four boys, James V. “Jamie” (Wendy) Wright IV, Larry J. (Jennifer) Wright, Jeffrey J. Wright, and Jerry L. (April) Wright; 12 grandchildren, Jacob, Morgan, Mitchell, Brandon, Katelyn, Leeah, Madison, Avah, Noah, Grace, Emma, and Chandler; one great granddaughter, Makenna; four siblings, Roger Frost, Chuck Frost, Dorothy Ward, and Joe Mikula; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Grover.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00am at Grove Cemetery on Saturday, April 29, 2017. A Celebration of Josephine’s Life will be held from 1:00 to 5:00pm on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the American Legion Post 770, 4431 E. Seneca Road, Trumansburg, where she had been a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary for 32 years.
