Justin R. Root

Justin Richard Root of Trumansburg passed away in Rochester on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the age of 25.

Justin was born on February 23, 1997 in Elmira, a son to Ronald and Jo-Ann (nee Tomao) Root. He graduated from Charles O. Dickenson High School in Trumansburg and while in school played football, basketball, and golf. He also attended TST Boces where he studied welding under Randy Jackson. When Justin was passionate about something he invested completely in it. He would spend hours hunting and fishing which led to an interest in taxidermy. Justin’s big heart and care free personality will forever be cherished by family and friends.

Justin is survived by his mother, Jo-Ann Root; father, Ronald Root; maternal grandmother, Maria Tomao; paternal grandmother, Beatrice Root; uncle, Christopher Tomao; godmother, Marianne Solinas; best friend, Letty McFall; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

The family will be present to receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Memorial Service will immediately follow, at 1:00pm, at the funeral home. A Celebration of Justin’s Life will be announced at a later date.
