Elizabeth K. Doane, age 89, of Ovid passed away on November 19, 2003.

Born on February 12, 1914 in Cooperstown, NY, Elizabeth was the daughter of Otto and Marie Kohe Grube.

She graduated from the Cooperstown High School and worked in home care before moving to the Interlaken area. Elizabeth was employed at Sampson State Hospital and later at Willard Psychiatric Center until her retirement in 1982.

The most enjoyable times for Elizabeth were those spent with family. She had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and could often be found tending her garden. Animals of all kinds gave her great comfort.

Elizabeth is survived by 2 children, Timothy J. Doane of Ovid and Judy Allen of Interlaken; 7 grandchildren, Debra, Pennie, Timothy, Robert, Chris, Kathy and Karen; 5 great-grandchildren, Stefanie, Timothy, Michael, Taylor and Morgan, and her best friend, Tommy. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas R. Doane in 1949.

A private memorial service for the family will be held on Monday, November 24 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg.

The family will be present to receive their friends at a Celebration of Life Luncheon on Monday, November 24 at 2:30 pm.at the Manning-Lilla American Legion Post #463 on West Seneca St. in Ovid.

Contributions in Elizabeth's memory may be directed to GRHC Hospice, 513 W. Union St. Rt. 31, Newark, NY 14513, to SPCA, 1640 Hanshaw Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
