Kelly L. Nickerson

Kelly Lynn (Austic) Nickerson of Interlaken passed away surrounded by family on December 25, 2013 at the age of 44.

Kelly was born in Alexandria, Virginia, the oldest of three daughters to William and Janice (Russell) Austic. She was a graduate of Ithaca High School in 1987 and earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration from TC3 with honors.

Kelly worked at the Tompkins County Health Department for 25 years. She took great pride in her job and was looking forward to returning to work in January.

Kelly’s spirit, strength and ability to overcome inspired all who knew her. Even when dealing with impossible circumstances, she always found a reason to celebrate and bring happiness to those around her. She loved gathering with family and friends, planning family vacations and coordinating events. Kelly was talented in making beaded jewelry, quilts and elaborate Halloween costumes.

Kelly is survived by her husband of 22 years, Timothy Nickerson; son, Kevin Nickerson; daughter, Tabitha Nickerson; two sisters, Diane and Shannon Austic; parents, William and Janice Austic; and her beloved pets.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church, 80 E. Main Street, Trumansburg.
