L. Smith, Genevieve

Genevieve L. Smith, age 60, of 10 Salo Drive, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2004, at Hospicare of Ithaca.

Genevieve was born on October 16, 1943 in Cortland, NY, a daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica (Adessa) Mastronardi. She was a Cortland High School graduate and moved to Trumansburg in 1967. After 29 years of service at Cornell University, Genevieve worked as a secretary at PLS (Prisoner's Legal Aide) and as an administrative assistant for the City of Ithaca. She then entered the paralegal program at TC3 and received her Associates Degree, graduating with honors while working as a Legal Aide Intern at Neighborhood Legal Services and she worked at City Hall in Ithaca as a legal aide. Genevieve recently retired from her position as a paralegal at Human Rights Commission in Ithaca.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, W. Robert Smith; daughters, Traci Bump (Richard Jr.) of Trumansburg, Tara Bennett (Todd) of Lodi, and MacKenzi Smith of Dryden; grandchildren, Mollie and Meredith Bump, Rebecca and Amanda Bennett, Crishtien and Elijah Smith-Bartlett, a sister, JoAnn Hay (James) of Preston, CT; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg, on Sunday, October 10, 2004 from 2 to 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 11, 2004, at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 17 Whig Street, Trumansburg, with Father Eugene O'Hara OFM Cap as officiant. Interment will be held at St. James Cemetery in Trumansburg.
