Ida L. Albrecht of Trumansburg, passed away at the Reconstruction Home in Ithaca on Tuesday, February 01, 2005, at the age of 85.
Born in Alt Postal, Romania on March 21, 1919, Ida was the daughter of Johan and Alfrida Renke Wittke.
Ida came to the United States in October of 1951. She was an accomplished seamstress who altered and made clothing for countless family members, friends, and clients over the years. When not at the sewing machine, Ida could often be found tending her extensive gardens. Her green thumb could make even the most difficult flowers flourish.
Preceding Ida in death were her husband, Albert, twin sons, Heinrich and Albert, three brothers, Oscar, Otto and Arthur, one sister, Olga Biche, and one great-granddaughter, Daniella Warner. She is survived by two sons, Horst (Viola "Sue") of Avondale, AZ and Alfred (Linda) of Hannawa Falls; NY; one daughter, Adeline (Tom) Lynch of Slaterville; NY; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Ida is also survived by other relatives in Germany and Canada.
The family will be present to receive their friends at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg on Friday, February 4, 2005 from 7-9 pm.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Enfield United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Earl Andrews and the Rev. Nelson Reppert officiating. A Committal Service at the Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg will be scheduled in the spring.
