Omar L. Gleason of 5665 Updike Road, Trumansburg passed away at the Cayuga Medical Center on Saturday, July 12, 2003 at the age of 88.

Born in Ithaca on December 19, 1914, Omar was the son of James and Laura Johnson Gleason. Following graduation from Ithaca High School he pursued his interests in farming which was a true labor of love for Omar. He operated the Gleason Farms and a saw-mill simultaneously for many years. Omar had a special respect and appreciation for horses and was an active member of the NYS Draft Horse Club and the Endless Mountain Horse Club.

The outdoors beckoned Omar and he responded by spending as much time as possible working the fields and hunting in the woods. He will be remembered as a true outdoorsman.

Omar is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Mary Lotito Gleason; 2 daughters, Kathy Smith of Spencer and Peggy (Frank) Winkleblack of Trumansburg; 2 sons, Ben (Pat) Gleason of Odessa and Howard (Peg) Gleason of Trumansburg; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

The family will be present to receive their friends at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg on Tuesday, July 15 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Pete Hood officiating. Prayers of Committal will follow at the Hector-Union Cemetery in Burdett.
