Lena M. Conroy

Lena May Conroy of 5651 Stillwell Road, Trumansburg, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2008 at the age of 88.

Born in Lockwood, New York on January 9, 1920, Lena was the daughter of the late Fred and Elsie (Clinton) Miller. She worked at Tompkins County Hospital and the County Home in Jacksonville for many years. Lena was passionate about the arts and spent much of her time painting, taking pictures, and reading poetry and literature. While she worked in one of her many flower gardens, she enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels in her backyard. Lena will be remembered for the unconditional love she gave to her family, friends, and pets.

In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her husband, William Conroy on August 3, 1960.

Lena is survived by her three sons, Roger (Barb) Conroy, Dale (Clara) Conroy and Stanley (Jane) Conroy all of Trumansburg; two daughters, Sharon VanNiel of Rochester and Patsy (Gary) Cooper of Middleport; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10-11 am on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. A Memorial Service, at the funeral home, will begin at 11:00 am on May 16. Prayers of Committal at Jones Cemetery in Trumansburg will immediately follow the funeral home service.
