Lewis E. Kelley of 24 Elm St.,Trumansburg, passed away on July 1, 2007 at the age of 79.

Born in Lodi, NY on June 11, 1928, Lewie was a son of the late Clarence G. and Ida (Matthews) Kelley. After graduating from Trumansburg High School in 1947,he spent 29 years working for Babcock Poultry Farms in Ithaca, his last position being that of Hatchery Manager. He was a lifelong Trumansburg area resident who truly loved his community. He never passed up an opportunity to visit with family or friends and he had a gift for remembering everyone's name and face. Lewie loved to work his farm and was a "die hard" when it came to raising red kidney beans. He shared his love of horses with his daughter, Pam, and always enjoyed parading his team of donkeys or ponies at the local fair. With his son, Ed, he shared his mechanical ability and enthusiasm for tractors and snowmobiles.

Lewie served as a board member for the Trumansburg Fair Association for over 30 years, 5 of those years as president. He was also a member of the New York State Horse Pullers Association.

Lewie is survived by his son, Ed(Deb)Kelley of Burdett; his daughter, Pam(Dave)Staub of Groton; a grandson, Edward Kelley, Jr. of Burdett; and several nieces and nephews.

Those wishing to remember Lewie in the form of a contribution are asked to kindly consider the American Cancer Society, 31 Adams Ave., Endicott, NY 13760; or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1650 South Ave., Rochester, NY 14620.
