Lois M. Staplin of Juniper Manor II in Trumansburg passed away at Hospicare on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the age of 92 under the loving care of the Hospicare staff.

Born in Mt. Morris, New York on January 29, 1922, Lois was the daughter of the late Donald and Mildred (Hewitt) Howe. She ran the A&P store in Nunda, New York during World War II until early 1945. Lois served her country in the US Navy from July 1945 until the time of her honorable discharge in July of 1946. She met her first husband, C. Robert Murray while serving in the Navy and they married in 1946.

After C. Robert’s passing in 1982, Lois married Herbert Staplin on December 30, 1983. Lois enjoyed the friendships established through the Trumansburg Senior Citizens. She created beautiful artificial flower arrangements which were enjoyed by many fellow residents at Juniper Manor II.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her first husband, C. Robert Murray on November 8, 1982 and second husband, Herbert Staplin on February 15, 1995; one son Michael B. Murray on July 15, 1997; and two brothers, Kenneth Howe and Raymond Howe. She is survived by one son, Donald R. (Sue) Murray of Trumansburg, NY; three grandchildren, Daniel Murray of Santee, CA, Dwayne (D.J.) Murray of El Cajon, CA, and Cheryl Bills of Akron, MI; three great-grandchildren, Michael Murray, Danielle Murray, and Mikayla Bills; one sister-in-law, Betty Howe of Nunda, NY; several nieces and nephews; one step-son, Robert Staplin of Paucauck, CT; one step-grandchild, Kathleen (Melville) Frazier of Griswold, CT, and four step-great-grandchildren.
