Louis R. Loiselle

November 21, 1942 — August 11, 2023

Enfield

Louis R. Loiselle of Enfield passed away at home surrounded by family on Friday, August 11, 2023, at the age of 80.

Louis was born in Brooklyn on November 21, 1942, a son of the late Louis U. and Madeleine (nee Purcell) Loiselle. A high school graduate and a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Louis met the love of his life in July of 1960.  They married upon his return from active duty in November of 1963 and spent their lives growing their family and pouring into others. Louis was a family man who enjoyed cooking, travel and taking care of his lawn. Always leading with a helping hand, he was service minded and loved people. He also knew the answer to any music or movie question, the best trivia partner in the business.

Louis retired in 2004 after serving as a Welfare Fraud Investigator for Tompkins County for 17 years.  Prior to that Louis worked 14 years at Ithaca College.  He spent much of that time as part of the Life Safety and Security team and enjoyed immensely working with the students.  Louis started his career with National Cash Register in the early 1960s.

Louis is survived by his wife of 59 years (very proudly soon to be 60 years), Elizabeth Loiselle; their children, Beth (Les) Buchanan and Louis (Lois) Loiselle II; four grandsons, Bryan (Christi) Cannon, Louis Loiselle, Thomas (Hannah) Cannon and William Loiselle; four great grandchildren, Carson, Conrad, Grace, and Callie; siblings, Madeleine (Frank) Ouellette and Elizabeth McCartney; and several nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosemary Gerber, and Melinda Schirmeister.

The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. On Friday, August 18, 2023 the family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am at Trumbull’s Corners Community Church, 628 Trumbulls Corners Rd, Newfield, NY with a Memorial Service following at 11:00am at the church.
