Louis E. Pendleton

Louis Edward Pendleton, formerly of Freeville, passed away unexpectedly in Princeton, North Carolina on October 25, 2017 at the age of 68.

Lou was born in Ithaca on March 30, 1949, a son of the late Richard and Ann (Boone) Pendleton. He honorably served his country as a highly decorated Infantryman in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. Lou often said he earned his DD214 (not a PhD) from the University of South East Asia. Lou worked at Cornell University for 34 years before retiring as a Head Mechanic, Inventor and Prankster in the grounds department in 2004. Lou loved his family and friends dearly and made sure he was always available for support.

Being a motorhead, he had a passion for building and running his hotrods (Preferably Ford tough with Chevy stuff) over the years. He loved cooking pigs for his famous roasts, and everyone knows about his yummy 'LouShine'. Lou also loved his ornamental iron hobby and teaching his grandsons how to “lay” a perfect weld. He was also an active member of “The round church” as he said, “So the Devil can’t corner me”.

Lou is survived by his son, Lucas (Catherine) Pendleton, grandsons Logan and Dagan of Princeton, NC; his siblings Amy (Harry) Simrell of Etna, NY; Steve (Vicky) Pendleton of Powder Springs, GA; Karl (Lois) Pendleton of Lansing, NY and Mimi (John) Drew of Underhill, VT.

Lou’s family will receive friends on November 3rd from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
