Mr. Francis Asbury Lueder, Jr., 94, of Jacksonville, New York passed away on July 2, 2004 at the Sardis Oaks Nursing Home in Charlotte, NC. Born and raised in Hanover Township outside Wilkes-Barre, PA., he moved to Jacksonville in 1927. Mr. Lueder graduated from Cornell University in 1931 where he lettered in football for four years and was an assistant football coach for five. He was a professor in the Agriculture College at Cornell University for over twenty-five years, and implemented his training and skills working his farm in Jacksonville. Mr. Lueder was the first lifeguard at Taughannock Falls State Park and worked with the Grouse Survey Project sponsored by the New York State Conservation Department.
An avid fisherman and noted storyteller, Dad Lueder was a loving husband and father, and the best grandfather any grandchild could wish for. Mr. Lueder is survived by his wife of 73 years, Marian Lasher Lueder; his son, Donald C. Lueder, Sr. and his wife, Janice of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Donald C. Lueder, Jr. and wife Julie, Douglas A. Lueder and wife Samantha, Judith A. Lueder, and five great grandchildren, Feti Kesceti, son of Judith Anne, and Phalichia Lueder, and Cameron Lueder, children of Donald Jr. and Effie Lueder, and Kasey Hapke and Konnor Hapke, children of Julie Lueder. He was preceded in death by grandson, Daniel E. Lueder.
Funeral Services will be held on July 7, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Jacksonville Community Church were he was a member. A brief private graveside service will follow at the Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jacksonville Community Church.
