Lyle F. Knapp

Lyle F. Knapp of Trumansburg passed away at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the age of 74.

Lyle was born in Enfield on February 15, 1941, a son of the late Walter and Leona (Lanning) Knapp. He was employed by Cayuga Medical Center as a security officer for over 30 years before retiring. A gentleman farmer, Lyle enjoyed tinkering around his farm, gardening, and caring for his cows and chickens.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Beverly Knapp; three daughters, Denise (Ann Walton) Knapp, Rebecca Knapp, and Sara (Matt Moore) Knapp; three grandchildren, Wyatt Knapp Moore, Annaleigh Knapp, and Jon (Ashley) Knapp Marsh; four step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four brothers, Edward, Ronald, Dale, and Wayne Knapp; a sister, Sally Prior; three step brothers, Paul Horton, Wes and Tim Jaynes; three brothers in law, Bill, Ken, and Phil Steinruck; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Helen Knapp; and three step brothers, Skip and Robert Horton, and Gary Jaynes.

In keeping with Lyle’s wishes there will be no calling hours or service. A Celebration of his Life will be held in the summer of 2016.
