Alice M. Tarbox of Mecklenburg, passed away at the Cayuga Medical Center on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at the age of 78.
Born on January 24, 1925 in Castle Creek, New York, Alice was the daughter of Ray and Mary Foote Howard.
She was a resident of Mecklenburg for 44 years and enjoyed her involvement in the Mecklenburg Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Alice took great pleasure in caring for her family, home, friends and community. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and always greeted them with a smile and a cup of coffee.
Preceding Alice in death were her loving husband, Edward Tarbox on July 17, 1989; 3 brothers, Clifford, Frank and Paul Howard and a sister, Eva Stampfler.
She is survived by a son, David E. Tarbox of Mecklenburg; 3 daughters, Mary E. (Alan H.) Rand of Trumansburg, Barbara M. Tarbox of Mecklenburg and Patricia A. (Andrew P.) Rinchack of Arizona; 4 grandchildren, Patrick A. Rand, Andrew P. (Amy) Rinchack, Jr., Christopher J. Rinchack and Scott E. Rinchack; 5 great-grandchildren, Arianna, Caleb, Matthew, Jonathan and Joshua Rinchack; 4 sisters, Anna Lamb of Lisle, Pauline Shaw, Leola Samek and Ruth (Donald) Conrad all of Binghamton; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Tarbox and Shirley Howard both of Binghamton, and nieces and nephews.
The family will be present to receive their friends and family at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg on Friday, November 21, 2003 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
Services will be held at the First Baptist Church, 4443 East Seneca Road in Trumansburg on Saturday, November 22 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Billie Jean Melton and the Rev. Pete Hood officiating. Prayers of Committal at the Chenango Valley Cemetery in Port Dickinson, NY. are scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 pm.
