Cecile M. Bonsall, age 78, of 16 Pease Street, Trumansburg, went to be with her Beloved Husband, Bill on Saturday, February 26, 2005 in the warmth of her daughter's Cayuta home, while surrounded by family.
Born on January 13, 1927 in Trumansburg, Cecile was the daughter of John and Ruth Perry Weeks. A life-long resident of Trumansburg, Cecile was known by many from her work at the Ithaca Office of the Department of Motor Vehicles. She retired from the Motor Vehicle Department in 1986 following 20 years of service.
Cecile devoted many hours to the creation of hand-made crafts. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends. Cecile and her dear husband, William (Wazoo) G. Bonsall were married for 49 blissful years and shared wonderful times with their many friends, especially boating on Cayuga Lake and wintering in Florida with their motor home. Bill passed away in 1993.
Caring for her family was Cecile's primary focus in life and she carried through on that commitment with a hard work ethic coupled with a nurturing heart. "Grama" had a special relationship with each of her beloved grandsons throughout their lives, a bond that was uniquely individualized for each of her five cherished boys. Her great-grandchildren were carefully guided by the countless hours spent with "Grama" as she gave words of encouragement and provided an endless supply of mouth-watering, home-made cookies.
Cecile will continue to be a guide on the road of life for those she loved. Her connecting beacon will be the warmth within each of their hearts.
In addition to her parents and husband, Cecile was preceded in death by a brother, George Weeks, a brother-in-law, Jack Bonsall, a sister, Betty Taylor and her husband's twin sister and her special friend, Betty Parker.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Ennis (Larry) of Cayuta and Patricia Bonsall of Trumansburg; five grandsons, Raymond Miller, Jr. of Trumansburg, Eric Miller (Bernice) of Trumansburg, Paul Vorhis (Liza Spaulding) of Interlaken, Jeff Vorhis (Michelle Wright) of Trumansburg and Jim Ennis (Jody) of Locke; five great-granddaughters, Kristen and Kelsey Miller of Trumansburg, Marijane Vorhis of Interlaken, Tammy Ennis of Locke and Breanna Lederman of Interlaken; two sisters, Rita Brown and Carol Kastenhuber of Trumansburg and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 4443 East Seneca Road, Trumansburg on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at 1:30 pm with the Rev. Pete Hood officiating. Prayers of Committal, at the East Lawn Cemetery in Ithaca, will be private.
In keeping with Cecile's wishes, no calling hours have been scheduled.
