Clair M. Boyd of 24 Elm Street, Trumansburg passed away at the Lakeside Nursing Home on Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at the age of 79.
Born on December 19, 1923 in Jacksonville, New York, Clair was the son of Earl P. and Winifred Fitchpatrick Boyd.
Following his graduation from the Trumansburg High School in 1942 Clair continued to pursue his labor of love which was farming. He enjoyed being outdoors and working the land. He was also an exceptional interior decorator with a keen eye for detail. (Clair was a perfectionist in all of his endeavors.) One of his favorite past-times was baking. This soon developed into an active side-business as the word spread about Clair's delectable pies and cakes.
Whenever a dance was scheduled Clair was the first one to arrive and the last to leave. He was also an antique buff and developed a sharp eye for fine pieces of furniture and glassware. He was a Past-Master of the Searsburg Grange and had served as treasurer of the Reynoldsville Church.
Clair is survived by his devoted wife, of 49 years, Shirley Tucker Boyd of Trumansburg; 2 daughters, Gina (Dale) Prince of New York Mills and Mary (Brian) Ridley of Trumansburg; 2 sons, Kevin Boyd and Neil (Barbara) Boyd of Trumansburg; 6 grandchildren, Shane, Nathanial, Mandy, Austin, Nicholas and Forrest; 1 great-grandson, Devon; 1 brother, Earl Victor (Adele) Boyd of Queensbury and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Clair's wishes, private family services will be scheduled at a later date.
Contributions in Clair's memory may be directed to the Mecklenburg Fire Department, P.O. Box 37, Mecklenburg, NY 14863 or to the Lakeside Nursing Home Resident Council Fund, 1229 Trumansburg Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
