JACKSONVILLE, NY-Hazel M. Osterhout of 4411 Jacksonville Rd., Jacksonville, NY passed away on Monday, September 1, 2003 at Schuyler Hospital, Montour Falls at the age of 91.
Born on September 28, 1911 in Claremont, New Hampshire, Hazel was the daughter of Ellery Messer and Flossie Damon Messer.
Following graduation from the Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls and completion of a two-year secretarial program, Hazel accepted a position at the Mt. Morris Hospital. She was also employed by the Biggs Memorial Hospital in Ithaca and Cornell University. She worked in various departments while at Cornell and retired while in the position of Administrative Assistant in the Alumni Office.
Hazel loved golfing, spending time with her family, especially her grand-daughters who were the highlight of her life, and her various dogs that she cared for over the years, (including her dog Dakota who survives her). She was also a lifetime member of the OES Chapter #229-Sincerity Chapter in Seneca Falls.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Clinton "Clinker" Osterhout on August 10, 1991. She is survived by her son C. Damon (Florence Wolverton) of Beaver Dams; two grand-daughters, Amanda Osterhout of Freeville and Aimee Osterhout of Breckenridge, CO and one sister-in-law Thelma Bryant of Mt. Morris.
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses, Trumansburg on Friday, September 5, 2003 at 10 am with the Rev. Jeffrey S. Kellam officiating. Committal Prayers will follow at the Mt. Morris Cemetery in Mt. Morris, NY. In keeping with Hazel's wishes, no public calling hours have been scheduled.
