Mark S. Green

d. December 31, 2009

Mark S. Green, of 5398 Grove Rd., Trumansburg, passed away at his home unexpectedly on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at the age of 41.

Born on September 14, 1968 in Montour Falls, Mark was the son of Larry Green and Connie Bailey Green, both of Trumansburg. By nature Mark was a comical guy that from a young age could make everyone laugh without trying.

This quick wit and genuine desire to help others suited him perfectly for the management position at Sterling Optical in Ithaca. He became the full-time manager in 2008 following nearly a decade of dedication to Sterling. Mark's fairness was appreciated by fellow staff members and their clientele as the Ithaca location blossomed under his guiding hands.

At home Mark used his skilled hands in the construction of entertainment centers, decks, and extensive landscaping. He also relied on a keen hand-to-eye coordination while mastering every computer/video game that he encountered.

A simple man who only wanted to be known will hold a warm place in the hearts of many, including: three sons Kyle (LeeAnn) of Geneva, and Mathew and Justin of Trumansburg; a special friend Kellie Karn and her daughter McKenna; parents Larry and Connie Green of Trumansburg; two brothers Scott (Venesia) and Tom (Candy) of Trumansburg and one sister Lori (Mike) Rush of Waitsfield, VT. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Helen Bailey.

The family will be present to receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg.

Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at the funeral home, with Pastor Judy Peppard officiating. Prayers of Committal will be held at Jones Cemetery, Trumansburg.
