Martha C. Dickson, age 98, passed away peacefully at the Baird Nursing Home in Rochester on Saturday, July 26. 2015.

Martha was born in Hector, NY on April 24, 1917, the daughter of the late Elmer and Myrtie (Mathews) Covert. Upon graduation from Trumansburg High School, she attended the Practical Business School in Ithaca. She was married to Stuart Dickson on July 4, 1937, and they were blessed with three children. Following Stuart’s untimely death in 1958, Martha went to work at the Trumansburg IGA, and then later became the office manager of the Morse Chain Federal Credit Union in Ithaca. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses, and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #479 and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Martha was active with the Trumansburg Seniors, Ulysses Historical Society and the Gemm Shop.

Martha’s family extends their sincere gratitude for the loving, compassionate care she received at The Baird Nursing Home, and more recently from Lifetime Care/Hospice of Rochester.

She is survived by her children Robert (Kathy) Dickson of Rochester, Melanie (Raymond) Spadafora of Westport, NY, 12 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren, and by a daughter in law, Karen Dickson of Lake Placid, FL. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart; a son, Charles “Fuddy” Dickson; a grandson, Matthew Dickson and 3 great great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses, 69 East Main Street in Trumansburg, officiated by Rev. Cheryl Peeples. Prayers of committal will be held at Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg.
